Ptarmigan Pediatrics is "not your father's Oldsmobile", as it were. The newly remodeled suite (formerly the AIC / Urgent Care Clinic in the Mat-Su Regional Outpatient Center) was redesigned from the ground up to be a kid-friendly place where parents and their children alike can be comfortable and enjoy the visit as much as possible. This is a doctor's office, after all!

Blues Jay mural      But if you're feeling well enough, we think you'll appreciate the gigantic mural on the waiting room wall, as well as the books and activities available to you for what we anticipate being a short wait to see the doctor.

     The segment of mural at left is only a fraction of the available image.  We like the "Blues Jay" and of course the ptarmigan painting the sign with "Bear" paint. 

     And notice the little ptarmigan head peaking over the bush in the right hand corner?  There are several such ptarmigans hidden throughout the mural.  On your next visit, try to find them all!
 
     Sharon Smith, our muralist, puts the finishing touches on the "totem beam" in the waiting room. 

     Sharon's creative genius has been on display at several sites in southcentral Alaska, including the Wild Salmon on Parade in Anchorage and several gigantic wall murals in the lodge at Hillberg Ski Area on Elmendorf AFB as well as other buildings in town.  We are tickled she was available to add just the right character to our clinic.      Inside the clinic, ptarmigans in various racing poses line the hallway walls.  Some are more interested in racing than others!
