GARDASIL APPROVED FOR GENITAL WART PROTECTION IN BOYS
Gardasil has been used for several years to protect women against four strains of human papilloma virus which cause the majority of cervical cancer and genital warts. Now this vaccine has been approved by the FDA to protect against genital warts and certain cancers in boys age 9 through 26. Not only does Gardasil protect boys from HPV directly, it also prevents the spread of HPV to unvaccinated women these boys eventually come in contact with years down the road. Insurance coverage of this vaccine for girls is generally pretty good, but coverage for boys is spotty at the moment; more will surely come aboard as demand increases. We will alert our eligible-aged patient population to this option and will be happy to discuss this decision with you.     (posted 07/27/10)

MMR NOT LINKED TO AUTISM
The prestigious British medical journal Lancet has published a retraction of the claim it made many years ago linking MMR vaccine to autism. The journal reports that the doctor who published this article made "false claims" and the journal is officially retracting the article from the published record.  We hope that this report will encourage parents to feel more confident in the value of getting the necessary vaccines for their children. Here's more information starting with this link.     (posted 02/03/10)
